Rentals - Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I returned my instrument rental to the school, why am I still being billed?
A. As stated in our rental terms and conditions, instruments returned to a teacher or school at any time other than a scheduled Larsen rental pick-up date, will not be considered returned, and will remain the customer's responsibility until they arereturned to Larsen Music or one of its depots/representatives. If you have returned your instrument to a school, please contact the school and make arrangements to pick up the instrument and have it returned to Larsen Music. Refunds will not be given on instruments left at a school.
Q. Do my rental payments go toward the purchase price of my instrument?
A. Only the FIRST SIX MONTHS of monthly rental payments, or the FIRST TEN MONTHS of prepaid ten-month rentals count toward the purchase price of your rental instrument. Subsequent rental payments do NOT accrue as credit, and a rental instrument will not be paid off after a certain number with payments unless you have previously made financing arrangements with Larsen Music.
Q. Am I renting to own my instrument?
A. Larsen music offers Straight Rental programs as well as financing programs. Financing is 1.4% interest on the declining balance. We do not offer a rent-to-own program. For our straight rental customers, we offer 100% of base price of the first 10 months rental(for 10 month pre-paid rentals), or 100% of the base price of the first six months' rent (for monthly rentals), as credit toard the purchase price of your instruments. Subsequent payments do NOT count as credit, and if you wish all of your payments to go toward your instruments' purchase price, you must contact us and arrange a financing agreement.
Q. I live outside of Victoria and need to rent an instrument/return my rental instrument. What are my options?
A. Visit our rentals page and look for a representative or depot in your area. You can initiate a rental at, or return a rental to anyone of these depots. If you do not see a depot in your area, contact the rental department. We may be able to arrange shipping (customer is responsible for all shipping charges). We also travel up and down Vancouver Island regularly, and so we may have the opportunity to pick up or drop off an instrument.
